Wow, what a track! Have you been there? We arrived on Sat. and had a great day of practice, no clutch or bike problems. The track is long and with huge altitude changes. We were overnight at the track and had a good first moto in 125C, but the 30 strong field was too strong for us. Jacob was improving with one triple to his credit. The next class was better fitted to Jacob’s ability where he was 8 out of 13th in the real 2-stroke class. An 85 cc bike was 1-3. On the second set of motos Jacob crashed in the woops ending his day with a hard whack to the left shin. He was assessed a slight sprain to the left ankle, second week in a row on the same ankle. The bike is still OK, so no parts this week.

Triple T - Calera, AL 18-March
How a day can make you change your mind! We were disappointed to be on the dusty access road at the track on Sat., but the days results made it worth the dust. The 125C group of riders was very good, and the last race of the day was to see. Jacob finished the second 125C race in 10th giving him an 11th for the day.  We really enjoyed the track and Jacob is adapting to new tracks faster each week. When we left the track at the end of the day I could tell that we had made a major leap forward, even though we are still not firmly above the 50% mark. The suspension work has given Jacob confidence, next weekend we will introduce “racing fuel” and we hope to continue the move to the front.

Chandler Mt., Steele, AL - 11/12 March
Racing update from the Alabama Series: The move to C class continues to be tough, and the fields large, 18 in youth and 32 bikes in C class. Our attempt to get into the top half was almost met this past weekend, then trouble stuck. Our KTM experienced a bearing failure in the lower connecting rod bearing in the 2nd of four races. The good news was our brand new suspension rebuild/tune was fantastic! We will be back in action this weekend after a quick rebuild. We had close to 250 practice/race days on that motor.
12/18 in Youth moto #1
DNF - C class

Double X MX, Rockford, AL

Estes MX, Vernon, AL - 20/21 NOV. Nice new track near the MS/AL state line. Saturday yielded only two practice sessions but did indicate that at 40°F we needed to change the jetting. This made the bike run great for the rest of the weekend. Two lap practice session on Sunday morning, Race #1 good start finished 12 of 16. The competition was very good, worked on a number of the doubles. Race #2 not so good start but cleared the up hill double on the back. This was a major improvement so the 15th place finish did not seem so low. Overall 13th in 125C for the weekend, a good start for the second weekend in 125C. More track time was needed.
